one reall fast way to check the motor is to tapit with a heavy pipe while running the switch. Of it instantly responds, you have a problem with the brushes in the motor. any elect repair shop can fit new ones,- Next get hold of the glass and pull op or down on it while the putton is worked. If the motor responds- it is a problem with the gear box in the motor drive.
