I think it is due to the time SAAB has real problems with their automatic transmission in the 70's and early 80's. There were a lot of problems in the 99 and 900 series. When the 9000 arrived SAAB had to compete with cars like BMW - Mercedes - AUDI and Volvo. And ....... of course they found a solution. Problems with the automatic transmissions are rare (in Europe - anyway). To the AERO - of course it should have been a manual. You would have had up to 35 HP more, and this car is more sports car than all the other SAAB 9000. On the other side - ever heard of someone driving a SAAB Griffin with manual? This car should be with an automatic transmission! (Even if you have the 2.3 turbo engine in it) Ruud Diablo wrote: > Yesterday I bought a 1997 SAAB 9000 Aero with an automatic transmission. > While I realize that the ideal vehicle would have had a 5 speed manual > transmission, the car is immaculate ~ it was a one owner vehicle with only > 64,000km.
