Check the wire which runs from the battery to the alternator.  There is a
relay on the alternator which get's power.  Check if it doesn't get power
when the engine is turned off.

I had this problem with my 83 900 GLi.  Apparantly the harness in which the
cable was running was deteriorated and caused the (little) current to flow.

Therefore my battery was drowning gradually.
