[...] Problem-- > [...] Any thoughts or suggestions? Not being a SAAB mechanic, just someone experienced in electrical systems, my vocabulary may be deficient. If the 'interruptions' affected all the car's systems then they are likely to be caused, logically, by two classes of defect: a) something near the battery, interrupting electrical power fed to the car as whole; or b) something capable of drawing a lot of power which momentarily bridges the main power bus, such as to cause a 'sag' in volts. A remote possibility, which depends on whether SAABs can control all the affected systems from one central point, is: c) Some kind of spurious control signal temporarily interrupting power feed to the affected systems. I don't like this option. Cause 'a' could be something as simple as a loose connection. My experience with light-current systems (eg, computers) says: first suspect the connectors. But a car is such a vile environment for electrics/electronics that anything could happen. Cause 'b' would be more apparent if your battery and/or charging system were not at full spec, and therefore not so able to hold up the main bus volts. 'Random' events could involve (eg) the AC coming on, the charger cutting-out on bumps, the starter (though you'd expect loud graunching noises)... ie, a system which deals in loads of current, even if only briefly. One remote possibility is a 'cascade failure', where one system triggers another, until something big is affected. I don't like this option, either. Once you fix it, let us know what _really_ was wrong? <g> -- Andrew Stephenson
