Subject: 9-5 Brake Dust problem

I just had my 99 9-5 washed and asked them to try to get the front rims clean. They were extremely dirty. The car wash guy says that Saabs dump a lot of brake dust and, over time, the hot dust on the hot rims will result in pitting. He, of course, recommends frequent cleaning. However, he was unable to scrub off all the dust and was reluctant to use "wheel acid" to try to get them completely clean. I used some Goop Off to remove a bit more of the gunk. So... Is this really true? Is the heavy dusting indicative of a brake problem or is it just how the brakes are made? --Steve Stern SYSOP http://go.compuserve.com/generalhelp http://go.compuserve.com/emailcommunication http://go.compuserve.com/softwaresupport http://go.compuserve.com/viruscentral
