Subject: Re: UK new SAAB prices prospects?

I would like to think that they are more eager to shift boxes. After recently getting my 9000 serviced at a dealer I got an invite to "come test drive a new Saab". I didn't take up the offer as I'm not looking a changing (only done 80k... 8-) ). A few weeks later I got another letter saying . "We noticed that you did not take up the offer of the free 24hr test drive, so to further intice you, why not have this voucher entitling you to £2,000 (pounds) off your next 9-5". A nice deal if you have a spare £23k just gathering dust. Giving out offers like this gives the impression that business is slow. Further to this my brother just bought a new Mazda MX-5 (miata??US). Went for a test drive in the UK, afterwards said he was just going to get it on euro import, with much flapping the dealer dropped from £21k (pounds) to £17,400 (pounds) instantly to compete (model was 1.8iS inc hardtop and metallic). Import was 16,500 . 4 grand is quite a lot to drop so he took the UK deal and now has his shiny new MX-5 in 2 weeks, and still enjoys the 3 year warranty, AA cover , et al. There is still money to be saved out there. see http://europa.eu.int/comm/dg04/aid/en/car.htm This gives the finding of european price differentials for countries (official EU findings). Biggest culprits are Rover, Alpha Romeo, VW. I think that most people will be genuinely outraged at the staggering differences. then http://www.broadspeed.co.uk/ http://www.carbusters.com/ Start with the price of cars then move onto the price of fuel..... Can anyone beat £85.9p/litre (£3.89 per gallon [imperial])??? Alex.
