Subject: a little info needed...

I'm looking at an 89 900T that's for sale at a local shop - the shop owner advertised it locally and I went to check it out. It turns out he had some work to do to it before putting it on the lot, but his partner placed the ad. It's got what appears to be a bad CV joint or drive axle on the left side. I gave him a few days to check it out, and he believes the CV joint is the problem. He claims to be very busy, and he asked if I would want to buy it as is for a fair amount less. This interests me, but I'm unfamiliar enough with Saabs to wonder if there might be some terribly expensive repair possible that he found and doesn't want to get involved with. I plan to get a mechanic to look at it first, but I'm just asking if there is such a black hole of a repair that I might spend more than the discount he'd give for it. BTW, what would be a ballpark figure for repair of the CV joint and possibly the shaft assembly itself, if that's required? Thanks to anyone who can advise me - I'm sure there are those that reside here with such knowledge, such as I've found in the past on alt.autos.volvo for my other car.
