New at......... www.nospam Some bad news this week I am afraid. Last Thursday night there was a spate of attempted car thefts in the area and my convertible was one of them. The damage to the center console is extreme, ignition, windows switches etc., smashed to pieces with bits of wire everywhere. Whoever it was obviously spent a fair bit of time trying to get the car started. Other than that it could have been worse at least I've still got the car. It has been taken away for repair and I now have the pleasure of driving around in a Nissan Micra for the next two weeks! Paul and myself have been busy this week preparing new Articles and Technical Help features for the site. As you may have already noticed Paul added the 1985-1993 900 service schedule to the Tech Help section earlier this week. There is a handy option at the top of the page to print the schedule off if you so wish. Other new additions coming this week (expected Monday 10th June) to the Tech Help section include Paul's excellent guide on how to check your Camshaft/timing chain for wear. I have been busy scanning in the some of the brochures that I picked up at Splash out on Spares earlier this year. I've started with the excellent 'Form and Function' book which was published by Saab in 1988. The book is solely dedicated to the 900 and totals over 100 pages. The book goes into great detail of how and why the 900 was designed the way it was, with some excellent diagrams and in depth information. As the book is so long I have started with the first section - 16 pages, which covers all aspects of the 900's Performance and can now be found in the Features section of the site under the header Form and Function. Well worth a read. The next section titled 'Roadholding and Roadsafety' is another 15 pages, so I am going to spend the next two weeks preparing this for publication on the site. I hope to have the whole book up on the site within the next two months. There has been a new addition to the Unusual 900's in the Gallery. Jonas Lind sent me a link to a Saab dealer in Tranas Sweden who has a Saab 900 combi for sale. Basically it is a Saab 900 with a Volvo estate back end. If you are interested in purchasing this car a link can be found to the dealers website with the pictures. Still with the Unusual 900's, I had a mail from Rune of 'Rune's Saabsite' with some information on two of the red Saabs in the Unusual Gallery. This information has been placed with the pictures. Thanks Rune and thanks to Pete Cannon who originally sent the pictures in. As promised last week I have written a short article about my holiday in Spain (seems like it never happened now!) with a few pictures including a picture of my Fiancé Lorena and myself. If your interested in having a read, you can find the article in the Features section. There have been three new Mileage contributions, two from Martin Groeper who lives in Germany and the other from David Adams who lives in the U.K. Thanks to both. As always there are lots of new ideas in the pipeline. Paul is planning to write his article on the safety of the 900 over the next week or so. We have had good feedback on this subject thanks to everyone who has taken the time to write in. As already mentioned I will be busy preparing the balance of the Form and Function book for publication and will be adding shorter articles in between. There are also several longer term plans which we will let you know about closer to the time. The new Poll 'Who does your maintenance' is going well. Please vote if you haven't already done so. Please also remember there is a new Competition to win a genuine '1991 Saab 900 accessories catalogue' The question is - 'What year did the Saab 900 first appear on the market ?' As always thanks to everyone who has contributed. Cheers - Simon. http://www.nospam "The Premier Saab 900 site"
