Subject: 89 900 dies at idle with low fuel

Group, I was wondering if anyone out there has an answer to this. I have an 89 900 (non turbo) with the walbro pump. It has a new pump and check valve. When the fuel gets low (about when the low fuel light comes on), it will starve for fuel at idle. If I keep it revved up, it works fine. The time it takes for this problem to exhibit itself is about one traffic light sequence (1-2 min). Once underway, things are fine. If I keep 3 or more gallons in the tank, it never has a problem. I thought it may be water in the tank and drained every ounce in the tank and wiped the bottom of the tank till it was dry than added fresh gas and started teh car. I have not added any more than the 2.5 gallons which is in it now, and it will still die at an intersection if it idles long enough. Thnaks, Keith Grider
