It's "tonsured" professors who do the heavy thinking. Unless the monk-style patch of hair has been shaved from the top, cooling is poor, so the thermostat tends to cut in and limit brain activity. Fever-temp thermostats and chipping are not viable options, even in the 2001 model. High-mileage units can benefit from improved instrumentation, like a new pair of reading glasses. Upgrading of insulation and suspension is often beneficial too, so sensible woolly jumpers and comfortable slippers are worth a try. Alas, the basic design is buggy. :-( -- Andrew Stephenson
