My car is a '85 900 3-door base model. Hello all: I've written to this list about this problem before. Here goes: I am getting serious heat bleed from the exhaust system into the cabin. I have replaced the exhaust heat shield and that helped some, but if I drive for extended time, it gets unbearably hot inside and the key will get hot to the touch. My mechanic has checked the exhaust system and catalytic and there are no blockages. The cooling system is working properly. The heat starts close to the engine compartment and will migrate back to the area of the hump in the back seat. Is there supposed to be insulation under the carpet? Could the exhaust be coming from the engine too hot? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jeremy in MA, USA.
