A mechanics job is not easy. I know many techs post and read here and I want them to know I know they aren't always treated with respect from customers. My problem is, I think a new mechanic I went to is putting it to me. I went to him for an oil leak and odometer, and he originally quoted me $275. When I went to pick up my car I was greeted with contempt. After he realized I wasn't a parts salesman but a customer, he apologized and went to write up my bill, now $561. He said he went ahead and did some other stuff I needed, and told me what I would be needing in the future. I got in my car and it would not turn over, plenty of juice, the click was there, but no turning over. Then he told me he had problems starting it after I dropped it off. The battery is exactly six months old, and my car has never EVER had a problem kicking over. He got it started, I got in, thanked him again and proceeded to drive home. I drove exactly 1/2 mile before the car died on me. I went to start it, again plenty of juice from the battery, but no turn over. I left my car on the on ramp and proceeded to walk the 1/2 mile back in the rain to his shop. I was pissed, but at no point did I disrespect or get out of line. (what good would it have done.) THe car was towed back to his shop and there it still sits. At this point I don't care how it happened, I just want it fixed. He seems to want to go back over the things he did for the sake of liability and all I want is my car back running like it did before I dropped it off. Do I have any recourse short of getting an attorney? I am at my sanity's end. Thanks for any advice. Joe
