Subject: Re: Octane of fuel for 900SE

Re: octane on a turbo - someone suggested on this NG that using 87 in a turbo causes the APC control thingie to retard the timing to avoid knock. This was in response to a question on running in the hot end of the range on my gauge, and it further stated that retarding the timing would cause the engine to run hotter. It would make sense to me, therefore, to use the higher octane in order to have the engine running without excessive retardation of the timing for the best performance and with minimum heat buildup.
