Subject: Re: Octane of Fuel for 900SE

From: "Ryan Lindfield" ryannopsamlla.com >I have a 1996 900 SE and I always use 93 Octane, what do the rest of you >use, >or what does Saab suggest? >Thanks, >Ryan Lindfield I have a 1995 900SE (4cyl turbo) and a 1996 900SE V6, and use Shell 93 Octane in both. The manual says it's ok to use 87 octane, so I once switched the turbo car to a lower octane (regular) and was told by the chief mechanic at Spreen's (Hackensack, NJ) to use 93 octane in future, otherwise the car would not perform up to its capabilities. I'm not sure but I think the lower octane is detrimental only to turbo-fitted engines. Please correct me if I have the wrong impression. VS
