Subject: Re: Roaring noise from front when driving

Hi, I had the same problem twice on a 1983 99 about 10 years ago. First the right side, then the left. The wheel bearings needed to be replaced in both cases. A bad front wheel bearing gives off a humming sound with the main tone possibly around 200 Hz when driving about 80 km/h (50 mph). At least mine did. You music freaks out there don't quote me, OK?. You might try removing each of the front wheels and turning the hubs by hand (with car in neutral). If one feels rough, then you have your answer. Regards, Robert Gothenburg 1983 900, 1999 9-3, 1983 99 r.i.p. Larry B wrote: > I just picked up the 88 900s sedan I just bought.
