I hope the dealer is throwing in a jar of vaseline. I know parts on some of the newer models cost more, but $660 for an alternator. I had to have the alternator on my 87 9000S replaced a couple of months ago. The shop charged me $238 list for the alternator and $120 for the installation. I checked the price of the alternator out from other sournces. Considering I was stranded coming off the NJ Turnpike, $50 over what I could have gotten it for was not bad. The battery and thermostat are ridiculous. Get the Haynes manual for your 900 and learn to do a few things yourself. Some are really not that hard. I got brave and did my own struts and shocks a few weeks ago. Saved myself about $400 in labor costs.
