My 900i will not stay in fifth gear. As soon as my foot comes off the gas, it pops out of fifth. I tried replacing the clutch, adjusting the gear change and increasing the tension on the detent spring, all to no avail. Could it be that the synchromesh on fifth is worn or a bent selector fork?? I'm loath to replace the box or perform major surgery unless really necessary. Frustrated, Donald (Scotland).
