Keith, Thanks for the info on your experiences. Yes, I agree that they are relatively easy to work on, and, with this newsgroup and others, you can expect quite a bit of help from many people. I think I have at least 10 Saab-oriented sites bookmarked on my browser. I recently purchased a new set of plug wires for my '85 900 8-valve from <Saabsite.com>; they were exact OEM wires and cost around $35.00. They have the Inner Drivers at $103.00 each and the tripod bearings at $51.00 each for my daughter's (high shool age) '87 900S 16-valve automatic. We bought the '87 900S for our daughter last month. It is in very good condition aesthetically, and the engine is in great shape. It's a 3-door hatch with the manual sunroof, so she likes it quite well. I'm not a fan of the B-W 3-speed auto, but she prefers automatics. We paid $1,700 for the car. This points out the fact that used classic 900s can be great buys. In fact, I think you could make an argument that any used Saab is a great buy, assuming it has had some TLC. Here in Champaign-Urbana, location of the University of Illinois, European cars are in abundance, so you can run across some great buys on Saabs, Volvos, etc. But, Volvos always tend to have higher resale because they are perceived to be more "mainstream" than a Saab. BTW . . . I have a mint '70 144S in my garage. It was set up for the rallaye circuit, but never drove it in any!!! Don
