Robert, Check out these 2 links to see if you think you can fix it. As you will read, the rack is usually easier to replace with a rebuilt than to attempt a rebuild. I trust Tom on this one, though I have rebuilt these before (rubber only) on a Honda, Mazda, and a Lancia.
