When was the last time you changed your oil and filter. My 83 900T would whine a lot a few hundred miles before oil changes. The dealer always tried to convince me to replace the turbo. I checked with a place that rebuilds turbos. They told me not to worry unless I saw black smoke. My 83 900T had over 251,000 miles on it, when it went to salvage due to an accident.
