8 Valve 5 Speed 165000 miles No A/C Symptoms: Cold Start: Must rev engine after 1 false start in order to get out of driveway. Car then seems to drive OK except for stopping at light when idle varies from 400-750. It goes up and down and I must keep foot on gas pedal in order to keep steady idle or it might stall. Warm Start: (Temp gauge 1/2 way to midpoint of E - F.) Car wants to die when I step on the gas. Giving it some gas seems only to cause it to want to stall. Finally after playing with gas pedal a while I can get it to rev (3000 rpm). I can then drive it (at high rev) for a quarter of a mile until it is fully warmed up. Then it seems to drive normally. Hot Start: Car starts and idles (most of the time) OK. I am hoping someone here can help me with this problem. I have had this car for 16 years and my mechanic is clueless.
