Take this advice with a grain of salt. On my 1986 there was a big rubber grommet which fed two or three big cables from the engine compartment to the area behind the glove box. I ran a 4 gauge wire through this grommet to feed the sound system which took up the whole trunk. I came to my senses after a few years and ripped it all out. The opening is on the right side of the car where the back of the hood rail ends. But this was in the classic - so hopefully it is still there in the 1997.
