Bart, It seems like it is that the felt wears off the outer door seal. This seal is on the body of the car and runs from front to rear at the top of the doors. You can test my theory by putting a thin (sheet) of cloth over the seal and drive away. If the squeaking subsides, that is where the problem is. It is then up to you if you want to purchase a new seal.
