Hello all: I took delivery of my 2000 model year Saab 9-5 SE V6 wagon the other night and was offered the extended warranty for $2200 extra. The regular warranty is good for 48,000 miles/4 years. The extended warranty starts at that point and goes to 100,000 miles/7 years. There was no option of buying it at a later date but they do give you 30 days to reconsider and get a full refund. Since I always keep a car at least 100K miles and I've heard how expensive Saabs can be to repair I bought the warranty. So now I have 30 days to make a reasoned decision. Saab is betting my car will cost them less than $2200 to repair in years 4 through 7 and I'm betting it will cost more. I'd be interested in hearing the feedback of the group on this. Are there any high mileage current model 9-5s out there yet to serve as data points? Any horror stories? Thanks in advance. - Rob Malkin
