Next door in Vermont, I have always used Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 tires. I'd recommend studding them. I've never been disappointed. JPF is right: every month driving on your snows is a month less wear on your summer tires, so cost of the tire isn't as bad as it seems. Plus when you consider that winter is some of the most hazardous weather of the year, it's a small price to pay for your safety (and for less of a chance of getting stuck!) ----------------------- Scott I.
