Valves do > burn, but not that often. Another possible symptom: I had a blown cyclinder head gasket, on a non-SAAB, which showed as the engine running unnaturally cool. But that was years ago, so maybe the technology has changed (new kinds of squirrels in the treadmill, for example). -- Andrew Stephenson
