If you can find an independent shop that specializes in Saabs, I'd get a second opinion from them. If you must install a rebuilt transmission, you may want to check this out: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Shop/7517/ I see no point in abandoning an otherwise sound vehicle on account of a transmission failure. Replacing the tranny would be cheaper than replacing the car.
