For what it's worth: Here in the Washington, DC area, some hundreds of kilometers to the south of you, I put the Blizzaks & steel wheels on my BMW in early December & remount the "good" wheels & tires in late March. Having suffered through a few late winter snows here, I tend to be a bit nervous. Also, my 17'' alloys are too easily damaged by potholes - hope this is not the case with your aero alloys! My wife's 9-3 Convertible keeps the OEM Michelin all-seasons on as they do fairly well in moderate snow, but when things really get snowy, we take the Bimmer.
