Subject: Cost for Transmission - '88 9000



I gave my '88 9000 Turbo to my brother about a year ago.  It has 90,000
miles.  The transmission has gone, and he was quoted by a repair shop in
Washington DC area (Rockville) $3,600 to replace it.  Any thoughts on
whether this is reasonable or not?  The dealer, by the way, did offer him
$500 for the car, which he said he would use for parts as it would not make
sense, he said, to spend the money to fix it up to sell.  Thanks.
