Subject: Re: how was 9-5 horsepower increased in 2001 4 cyl. Models?

in article GBp82x.n4Mnopsamove.se, Goran Larsson at hohnopsamlid.invalid wrote on 4/12/01 5:37 PM: Goran, My 1999 9-5 lease is up this summer and I need to decide to buy or lease a new 9-5 Wagon or something else. (maybe a BMW 525 or Passat). I heard rumors that we will see a facelift of the 9-5 for 2002 model year. I like the exterior of the current 9-5 and see no good reason to change. But, the dashboard and door panels could use a little updating especially the dash which has horrible ugly gray plastic that looks like a Rubbermaid product (plastic trash can). The dash plastic also does not match the rest of the gray plastic either in color or texture. My wife's 9-3 has much nicer plastic as did my old 1997 900SE. They could make the bins in the door panels large enough to hold something. Also, the plastic controls for the heated/vented seats and the surrounding plastic is cheap feeling and could be beefed up. This car is very solid and these minor changes would really bring the car closer to perfect. I am comparing interior plastics and design to Audi, VW, BMW and Opel offerings. I know that the VW looks good but has lots of squeaks and rattles, and I applaud Saab for making the 9-5 so tight and rattle free. Do you know if the facelift rumors are true, and if so will they fix the interior?
