Had the same problem with my '87 convert. Got a new master cylinder from one of the suppliers advertising in NINES or maybe it was on saabnet.com, don't remember which. It cost about $100-120. It took less than an hour to install. Solved the problem. Since I was changing the master and all the brake fluid, I decided to replace the rubber flex hoses to the wheels with teflon lined stainless hoses. Braking now is very solid, and the pedal feel is great. The lines were about another $100 from an outfit advertising in NINES, but it was a pain to install. The rear lines go through and connect under the rear seat. Changing the lines and bleeding the system took me another two hours. Still the whole project probably cost less and took less of my time than if I brought my Saab shop.
