The pre-'93/94 9000 were prone to whistling at high speeds. If this is a chronic problem, then the following may be helpful. According to my mechanic it has to do with the vanes in the grilles causing turbulent airflow. The SAAB solution was to add a tiny spoiler inside the grill to interrupt this turbulence. I do not know if this is a retrofit.
