I've owned Saabs and Volvos since 1970 - primarily Saab 99's and 900's. My "current" two Saabs are an '85 900 8-valve and my daughter's '87 900S 16-valve. Obviously from my ownership history, I dearly love Swedish cars. That being said, however, the Buick built 3.8 litre V6 is one of the best pushrod engines built today - bar none. It will easily go 250K before any work, assuming the change oil at regular intervals. And, for a 90 degree V6 it is quite smooth due to its balance shaft design. It also has gone through many engineering improvements, some based upon racing experiences earlier at Indy with the stock-block Buick V6 program and currently with the Indy Lights series. Regardless of the overall reliability of a LeSabre or Park Avenue, you can rest assured the engine won't be one of your concerns. Don
