Subject: 96 SE turbo won't fire up

I have a 96 SE turbo and when I went to drive it today (already warmed up from an earlier drive) it started right up but when I started to pull out it just died. It looked like some smoke came out of the drivers side of the hood and I could smell an electrical burning smell. After this happened, everything seems ok and it will crank over but it won't fire. I suspect that it is either a fuel injection or an engine control module problem. I have checked all of the fuses and have looked around for any "burnt" electronic componenets with no luck. Any idea's what could be the problem? Also, it was a pretty warm day and I had just jumped in and was powering down the windows and the auto climate was kicking in and the radio was cranking on so I had a lot of electric drain going on. Not sure if that contributed to a problem but thought it was worth noting. thanks, Bob PS. Please reply to bob.kmetznopsam.com and/or to the group.
