Subject: 900/9000 2.0l turbo question

I just replaced the head gasket on my 87 9000t. After starting it up after reasembly it still blows white smoke - not like before but it is really noticable. I am sure it is not the head but I am wondering if the turbo which is water and oil cooled may have a cracked cooling jacket and is leaking coolant. Right now I only have water in the system so I don't know if the smoke is from left over antifreeze in the tailpipe and is burning off from before or if it is from the turbo unit etc... Any help would be great. -thanks -Matt
