Subject: Help: Fog Light Wiring, 1991 900S

Hi. I have a 1991 900S Hatchback which I bought used. The fog lights haven't worked since I got it (primarily because the previous owner kept smashing them into things). I finally got a new set of lights and now I've discovered another quite confusing problem. Everything works fine between the relay and the fog lights. But the relay doesn't get power when you push the fog light switch. So I removed the switch and discovered a mess. I have the Bentley Service manual and it shows the switch as having 4 wires, Black, White, Green, and White/Brown. The connector on the back of my switch has 5 wires, Black, Blue, White/Brown, and TWO Yellows. Furthermore, the Black and one of the Yellows are not in any of the numbered pin holes (1-8). They are in the center of the connector, which doesn't actually make contact with the switch. So I can only assume that the whole thing has been buggered up. From my experiments with the multimeter I think that the White/Brown wire is the same White/Brown that the book shows. When the headlights are off it is ground, when they are on it is 6 volts. The Black wire is ground at all times. The only thing that is odd about it is that it is located in the center of the connector, in one of the un-numbered holes. I haven't been able to figure any further. I would appreciate more information if anyone has another wiring diagram or is willing to pop out their switch and look at the connector. Thank you very much! mark
