I've got a *very* noisy throw-out bearing on my '88 900T. Before I tackle this (I've rebuilt engines, so I'm pretty comfortable with this in general), I would like to go over what I think I need to do, and ask for comments. 1. Remove the misc. turbo plumbing/ducting from in front of the engine. 2. Remove the left radiator fan 3. Remove the plastic "cowl" covering the clutch. 4. Press in clutch pedal, (helper), and put in (which tool? SAAB tool, or spark plug wire, or piece of V-belt, or something else?) to keep the clutch disk compressed. 5. Take off "hatch" at front of clutch input shaft, remove the plastic propeller (noting direction), and thread a M8 bolt into the end of the shaft. 6. Lever the shaft out towards the front. 7. Remove the 3 bolts holding the throwout bearing in, also the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel. 8. Remove all above as a single unit. "Installation is the reverse of removal", right? So. Have I missed anything? (Obviously the hood comes off and the battery gets disconnected - I mean, clutch-specific). Any hints or tips to make life easier for this project? While I'm in there, I'll be replacing the bearing (of course), the clutch disk (probably), and will inspect the pressure plate and flywheel for blueing; I expect none though, as it's not slipping. Should I do the pilot bushing while I'm in there? Anything else? Thanks, Dave Hinz
