Subject: 1994 900S Strange engine sound (link)

I have a 94 900S with a 2.0L 133hp engine with AC (B206i ???) 175.000km. A strange sound has suddenly appeared. It comes from the right hand side of the engine, probably from a component/wheel on the auxiliary drive belt. The intensity of the sound follows the engine revs and is almost constant. I have had the car in for a complete test report since I am selling it. The garage said it was not a critical problem for the engine, only a wheel + bearing replacement. Well, I (the garage) changed the drivebelt and a tension wheel about a year ago. Could it be something else? AC compressor, power stearing or coolant pump...? Anyone familiar with the sound (Windows Media player 297kb) US link: http://lookout.org/saab2.mpg Europe: http://lookout.org/saab2.mpg -- Johan
