Once again, thankyou all for your comments. I'm surprised that the manual doesn't talk to this situation, in fact the Bentley service manual warns that the brakes need immediate attention if it happens. Now if I could only figure out why the cruise control suddenly quit (the dash light still comes on and the fuse is OK, but nothing happens). I'm thinking vacuum leak, although it was working fine a week ago. BTW, I'm not complaining. I love the car, especially with the top down. On top of that it cost about the same as my Subaru wagon of the same vintage/mileage.
