Unless the rack is leaking or stiff I would just stick to the tie rods,they can give you the symptoms you described.I would also have cv shafts looked at I replaced my tie rods on my 87 SPG and they were worn I had the "shimmy" come back,not as severe but it turned out to be the cv's.Try the tie rods they are cheap but dont discount there may be more! P.S.-I assume the tires are okay,a belt shift can give the same symptoms as well! Good Luck!
