Subject: Adding Stereo components to 2001 SAAB 9-5

Hello, I have recently (3 months ago) purchased a SAAB 9-5 with all the trimmins. :-) Needless to say, it's a very nice car and will last me quite some time. I do have one small complaint though. I recieved the "Premium" stereo, and while it is a notch above the standard stereo that comes with most cars, it's nowhere near what I would like! They distort on music with any real bass, and are not adjustable enough for the range of music that I listen to. I want to add a single amp to the car, to power a small box in the trunk for subs, and then disable the subwoofers that are currently in the automobile. What I need to know is how does signal get from the head unit to the rear amplifier for the stock subwoofers? Does it use regular 1V RMS line inputs? Is the signal already filtered (low pass) from the head unit? I would assume there would be no adverse effect from shutting down the amp which runs the stock subs.... To anyone else who's looked into, or done, something similar to what I'm looking at... Would you let me know of any hurdles you had in getting your system to sound the way you wanted? Ricardo
