Subject: Is My SAAB a True US SAAB - Cruise Control Problem

I have a 1991 SAAB 900s Convertible VIN # YS3AK75EXM7017941. Can anyone tell me whether this car is a truly "made for the US market" or an import from an alternative market. I have been trying to trace a fault in the Cruise Control using the Bentley manual but the component positiona appear to be a different configuration to that stated in the manual. For example, there appears to be no speed sensor [or position for] at the rear of the speedometer. Also access to the clutch and brake pedal switches appears to require fighting your way past an A/c duct that there is no mention of in the manual. Removal of the left hand speaker grille allows visibility of the vacuum regulator in roughly the right position although it looks a little higher than the manual would suggest. Anyone got any ideas - not sure how to start checking if I cannot find the speed sensor - there must be one - or maybe it is internal to the speedometer in which case i need to know what manual covers the wiring. Here's hoping. Andy
