Pull a vacuum on the system after you take out the R12. Harbor freight has a cheap unit that uses air to do this. Check your hoses, R134 is significanly higher pressure. You are also supposed to put a fitting adapter on so that noone will try and pur r12 back into it. Every thing but the hoses are the same. your hoses may or may not work.
