Reading your post, I too have noticed that I have a Puff of smoke when starting cold on my 2001 9-5. Having just taken the car to the dealer for a service, he said that it is a known problem and that he expects there will be a fix for it. I wonder if this is a stall by the dealer to not have to deal with it. I think my next call is to Saab customer service.
