Subject: Automatic Transmission Problems
Greetings from sunny (and often soggy) central Florida!
I recently acquired a 1998 900 16 valve turbo convertible with
an automatic transmission. The car is extremely nice (new top, perfect
body and paint, excellent leather, turbo works fine, etc..) and has
just under 120, 000 miles on the clock.
Problem is the transmission!
Seems to hang up in first gear until the accelerator is released and
then will go directly to third, missing second entirely. I've tried
shifting manually to no avail. Second gear does nothing. It's just not
there.
Any suggestions? Anyone know the going rate on the rebuild of the
tranny in US dollars? Could it possible be the valve body?
BTW, the fluid is not burned and is almost reddish in color.
