Subject: 900 Seat Heating

My '92 900i has what appears to be thermostatically controlled seat heating - with no visible means of switching it off. I understand later models had a rheostat fitted for temperature control, plus a dash switch that could select off and on. Now, its winter here, and the seat heating is fine. But I would like the option of over-riding any thermostat thats in control of my butt temperature. Apart from disconnecting the cables under the seat, is there any simple way to cut the power? Where is the thermostat located? Better still, can I update to the later switchable version? Any help appreciated.
