I had the same problem with my '80 900t. I would leave the window open whenever possible to let it vent, but if I left it shut up, it would smell pretty strongly when I got in. Anything left in the car would take on a gasoline smell. My '93 9000 had the same problem. For both cars it turned out to be a cracked fuel filler neck. Gas station attendants are pretty rough with the filler around here I guess.
