Subject: Re: What oil should I use?

Vikingman, Don't knock something unless you have tried it. Militec-1 is a synthetic oil based metal conditioner. It is a propietary formula, has been tested by the U.S. Navy for use in nuclear subs and has many applications in autos, trucks/busses, marine, industrial and firearms. After Slick 50 helped kill the engine in my 83 900T in October 93, I was the last person in the world looking for an additive. I read about it, it had no teflon and I tried it in Jan 94. I treated the used engine I put in to replace the one Slick 50 killed and I treated my 5 spd. Based on the results, I have been using it ever since. The metallic sludge that had been on the transmission drain plug was completely gone the next time I changed the 10W30 oil 20k to 25k miles later. I always changed the oil every 20k to 25k. I never had a problem from my transmission in over 251,000 miles. The day I drove the car to salvage with a caved in rear end, thanks to a large truck, the engine ran strong and smooth, the 5 spd shifted like silk and the A/C was kicking ass. It just was not cost effective to repair the car. Don't be so quick to climb on your horse and tell people to dump something. Besides, there is something you need to keep in mind. The oil and filter standards in Europe are very different than they are in the States. I was stationed in Crete for 3 years, Belgium for 4 and Turkey for 1 1/2 years. I bought an Alfa GTV in Rome and drove it back to Greece in 1978, then up to Belgium in 1979. I bought my 83 900T and drove it from the factory in May of 1983, and that December I had the pleasure of driving to Copenhagen to work on a project for a week.
