legislation against studs are against safety? I think the averages would show otherwise. If studs REDUCE traction on most pavement and only increase it on hard pack and ice, how many days a year (or in the allotted time oct-may or whatever) have conditions on MOST roads that would require studs? The safety numbers would surely fall on the side against studs. I generally see retirees driving wagons in may or june with 4 studded snow tires. We don't get but a couple of days a year with snow in Columbus, OH, let alone hard pack or ice! It is always safer to stay home in treacherous conditions.
