My '92 9000 2.3 CS (currently 105k miles) has periodic spells of "forgetting" how to tick over. Once went very high (2500 RPM). Another time low - just stalled and stalled. Each time only problem lasted for about 5 or 10 mins. Rest of the time - smooth as silk. May be a sticky floozel-werzel valve! Not worth spending time or money, in my case. So wait and see if it settles down. One thing worth trying - though it sounds strange - give your battery a boost with a charger. I think my battery was a bit low both times I had problems.
